It's dominated by Merlot, complemented by a small amount of pinot noir for a few years, and in recent years has been brewed with 100% merlot, which is of excellent quality, with a total of 10 years now receiving a full rating from the Parker Team, and James Suckling even writing a special article declaring Petrus his favourite wine. This tannin is soft and velvet-like, with a distinctive dark fruit, black olive, dark chocolate and earthy aroma. Whether it's a baby still cooked in a bucket or an adult decades later, it's an amazing red wine.
